What We Do

In 2022, our chapter members dedicated over 6,800 hours to community service through various volunteer efforts. 

Examples of community volunteer work include:

• Reading to children at local schools
• Packing boxes for our troops overseas as part of Operation We Care 
• Planting gardens in support of conservation
• Serving on community boards
• Historic Preservation of local landmarks and cemeteries

Our Chapter is proud to participate in awarding:

•  DAR Youth Good Citizen Award Medals
•  Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) medal
•  DAR Good Citizens Award 
•  Connect local schools with DAR Scholarship  opportunities

Activities in support of education include:

• Book drive for  Head Start program
• Sponsor a food pantry within the classroom
• Reading to students in local elementary schools
• Constitution Week events in the community

Pierre de Mandeville Chapter, NSDAR, successfully sponsored grants for the historic Madisonville Cemetery.  Our chapter volunteers time to clean the headstones at the historic Mandeville Cemetery.

We are currently assisting with the preservation and restoration of the historic Magnolia Baptist Church.

Our Chapter participates in many commemorative events honoring our veterans and active military.

We partner with the following organizations:

• Wreaths Across America at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery and the Mandeville Cemetery
• Operation We Care sends care packages to locally deployed military.
• American Legions Robert H. Burns Post to  supports our local veterans throughout the year.
